7th Domino World Championship 2001
Luzia Würsch is Domino World Champion 2001!
On Saturday, 29 December 2001, the seventh decentralised Domino World Championship took place. In the »Return of the Hausfrauenrunde« the title this year went to Luzia Würsch. The Grenchen Housewives Round – most prominent member Walter Bader – already had to tenaciously defend their world ranking positions this year against Schwerin combat players, who had specially lined up to crack the »Housewives Round«.
Sixty domino enthusiasts from five countries played for the world championship title at seven locations in Norway, Germany and Switzerland.
Three teams took advantage of the internet input facilities that worked again this year. Two teams spared no expense and gave the results from Sjusjøn and Zislow by phone. The Juvente winter camp in Bielefeld sent in the results by fax the next day before breakfast (12:38 o'clock).
After all, the 20 Juventis played well enough slept so that with the best will in the world no reason for disqualification could be found – and we looked for a long time. Strangely enough, Stina Klee only played twice, but an unknown Stina Bölckow turned up for the third round. Perhaps she should tell her brother, who was taking down the results, that, when and whom she had married. Because of him, she had married twice on purpose, but he apparently still successfully suppressed it. But it was not enough for disqualification, we were mild-mannered.
The next winter camp, however, should use the time before the World Cup more intensively to practise, practise and practise again filling in the results. Only table C, predominantly frequented by Estonians, delivered impeccable slips.
The Mother Theresa haters of Juvente are now learning for the umpteenth time that this way of playing does not pay off. Their first places were consistently under 100, while the other teams were all winners with over 100 points. Daniela Ratzek or Florian Klee would probably have been among the winners if their rounds had paid more attention to achieving higher scores overall.
The technical and culinary infrastructure was provided in the proven manner by Irène and defending champion Walti Bader as hosts.
